Dear Colleague,

Ryszard Wójcicki, a prominent logician and former Editor-in-Chief of Studia Logica from 1975-2005, will celebrate his 80th birthday on the 30th of October 2011. Professor Wójcicki’s leadership and vision are singularly responsible for Studica Logica’s currently worldwide-recognized position as a top-tier logic journal.

In addition, I am very proud to inform you that the President of Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski, recently awarded Professor Wójcicki the Officer's Cross of the Order Polonia Restituta - one of the highest distinctions in Poland - in recognition of his remarkable achievements in scientific activity.

I am also very pleased to present a tribute to Professor Wójcicki in a special volume of Studia Logica, edited by Professors Janusz Czelakowski, Wieslaw Dziobiak and Jacek Malinowski. Many prominent scholars have contributed to this volume and I believe that they, and the entire logic community, share my appreciation for Ryszard’s multifaceted contributions and wish him a Happy 80th Birthday.
